It has been quite a while since my visit to Fien. Huize Fien, or Bij Fien, remained largely untouched for a long time despite numerous visits by urbex photographers.
Eventually, thieves and vandals also found their way to this abandoned Belgian cottage. Photographs taken later showed me how much had since disappeared.
Little remained of the once cosy interior. All the more reason to keep these earlier images.
The stove, low beams and small furniture give the rooms a very different scale from the factories I visit more often. Precisely because so many ordinary things remain, the house initially looks inhabited. That is an impression given by a photograph, not proof that everything still stood as the last resident left it. Visitors have affected the scene here too.
