Maison Felix had been out of use for some time, and the neighbours seemed to keep a close eye on the surroundings. Even so, many photographers had been there before us.
Various objects stood in places that did not look very natural. Apparently not everyone had left the house as they found it.
The decay was also far advanced. The staircase to the first floor had collapsed, so I only took photographs downstairs.
In one room, a table and chairs still stand by the windows; in another, much of the ceiling lies on the floor. These differences within a single house make its condition difficult to judge. A room that still looks reasonably complete in a photograph says nothing about the strength of the structure beside or above it. During my visit, I therefore stayed on the ground floor.
