Half burned out, partly collapsed and photographed endlessly already. Plenty of objects had been staged as well. Enough reasons to leave Agnus Dei for another day.
Eventually, my interest in religious buildings won. The stained-glass windows and unusual light made me curious.
Once inside, it was immediately clear how well known the location had become: we were certainly not alone. With a strong German accent, someone even called it “a nice lost place”. It no longer felt particularly lost to me. I had soon seen enough and left just as quickly.
The windows do explain why I went after all. The coloured glass, tall space and damaged walls create a strong contrast. The bedrooms also show that the complex was more than a chapel. Still, that combination did not change my impression of the visit. A beautiful photograph does not suddenly make an overcrowded, staged location more interesting to me.
