Filature Impressionant

Filature Impressionant is a former textile factory. When I made this series, parts of the production equipment were still present, while other rooms were already almost empty.

According to the background information I found about the complex at the time, floor coverings were made here and production eventually moved to another site. I cannot establish its current protection status from the photographs. I therefore do not present the old mention of a heritage list as a guarantee that every building has survived.

The long rows of yarn and holders convey its textile function better than a photograph of an empty hall alone could. Another image focuses instead on the tall, deteriorated walls and the empty space below them. The combination makes clear that not all parts of a factory disappear at once. Some machines remain for a long time, while elsewhere almost nothing is left.
