I had not found an opportunity in time to visit the associated power station. Fortunately, the cooling tower was still largely untouched.
This abandoned tower belonged to a power station a little further away. Its impressive interior was reason enough to get the camera out.
Later, a grille was placed over the opening to prevent visitors from falling in. Understandable, although it changed the possibilities for photography considerably.
The repetition of the inner wall and the radial pattern on the floor define almost the entire image. A cooling tower removes heat from an installation; it is not a chimney. Even without showing the rest of the power station, that distinction matters. In photographs, the space seems almost easy to take in, whereas its dimensions and openings carry quite a different weight in person.
