Château Rochendaal

This short series shows Château Rochendaal during a period of disuse. The stairwell and windows in particular still gave an impression of the former interior.

The building also had a military history. Various stories circulate about individual residents and famous visitors. I do not repeat them as established facts without reliable confirmation.

The photographs focus on what visibly remained: spaces with a clear form, but without the use and maintenance for which they had once been intended.

The stairs and windows are the points of recognition in this short series. The finishes are badly damaged, but the structure of the stairwell remains clear. One part of the interior can therefore still show much about the building as a whole. Stories about famous visitors are unnecessary for that, especially when their presence cannot be established through a reliable source.
