Alienworks is the name under which I photographed this former power station. It belonged to a larger industrial complex whose parts were at different stages of vacancy.
The size and density of the installations were particularly impressive. The power station was not a building that was easy to take in: behind every machine lay more pipes, a working platform or another room.
The installation consists of far more than one large machine. Pipes, working floors, valves and heavy components intertwine at different heights. The photographs therefore invite a longer look. In a detail, a function may not be immediately recognisable; in a wider view, the connections become clearer. That distinction made this power station interesting.
