Young pilots were trained at this former military training site. The name EVS Flight School refers to that role.
Training included the SIAI-Marchetti SF.260, a light single-engine training aircraft. These photographs belong to the period when the site lost its training function, rather than documenting the Belgian Air Force’s present fleet.
The series focuses on the buildings and furnishings left behind. Aircraft history and current defence information require sources other than an abandoned classroom.
Partitions and control equipment remain in the rooms. They keep the training role recognisable, although the exact use of every device cannot be established from its appearance. The colours and layout make this series quite different from a typical empty barracks room. The photographs show the installations as I found them, without assuming they were still usable.
