In spring 2013 I went for a consultation with Dr. Pepito. He was supposed to know about the urbex virus, but unfortunately he was not at home. The name was a nickname for the house I photographed in this series.
At the time, much was still in place. Later the location became better known and its condition changed. Eventually the house had new residents. For me, that is another good reason not to provide information that would allow people to find it again.
The rooms still retain much of their furnishings: a bed, sofas, a table and a fireplace surround. This makes the house seem closer to ordinary use than an empty factory building. That is precisely what also makes a home a difficult subject. The pictures were taken during a period of vacancy. They do not give anyone the right to invent the residents’ private lives or seek out a house that has since become someone’s home again.
