The many photographs online showed that Maison Pierre was already a well-known urbex location. The little Belgian house lay hidden among shrubs that were slowly taking over the building.
It seemed as though nobody cared for it any longer. I did not know whether it still had an owner; in any case, there had clearly been no maintenance for a long time.
At the back, part of the roof consisted of polycarbonate sheets. These had broken and collapsed, possibly because of the heavy snow in the winters of 2011 and 2012. Wind and rain could get in freely.
Animals also entered through the open windows and doors. The stuffing from cushions and sofas proved excellent nesting material. Little by little, the house disappeared into its surroundings.
The doll and religious objects are part of the scene I found, but in themselves they tell us nothing certain about the residents. The same applies to the missing and moved objects. In a house visited by so many people, the original interior can no longer be reconstructed from photographs. The decay of walls, ceilings and furniture is visible enough without inventing a family story around it.
